Acceptance…
The future and its viewless things,
That undiscovered mystery. Will
We feel death’s lifeless wings.
No one wants these ending things,
If so, it would be a lie. I hide behind
Curtained windows to keep the
World from seeing my dying eyes.
My face bathed in the dew of morn,
Before me the snowy landscape
Spreads. This is the world in which
I was born, the world which will be
Gone from me when I am dead.
Sick of this wasted body, the mortal
Strife, the pain of taking a breath.
Now sorrow is the course of my life,
My soul combats with death.
I pray for calmness within me, please
Let it grow, before my wilted spirit must
Go. Life is beginning to be all too clear,
I am not afraid, for soon I will be gone
From here.

Soon? Maybe, maybe not. Meanwhile try to enjoy the little things. The sun is low on the horizon, and picking right into my eye as I type, squinting… 😉
Take care. 🙏🏻

Thank you for your comment, the poem is a bit on the “dark” side, nevertheless, the words speak truth. E.

Although your poem hit me as dark, in the end, we each have to face our own mortality in our own way.

Yes, I have volumes of “dark” poetry, written in some of the dark experiences in my life. However, most followers take it for literally being me, there are bits and pieces that do come from experience. I have a difficult time letting people know that poems is like any other fiction as writers we get and idea and run with it. I have had throughout the years more than one person to ask me to get counseling I have to just take it with a drop of humor. Thanks E.
